Sofie Draheim - Writer
Sofie was born in Britain in 1997, but through family ties to Austria and Scandinavia, has always been deeply fascinated by the magnificent, and often harsh wilderness of forested and mountainous regions. This, coupled with her passion for Norse mythology and European folklore set her on a path to study BA Scandinavian Studies at university, where she had the opportunity to live in Norway. Sofie is now currently taking a postgraduate MA in Creative Writing, where she specialises in honing her own fiction and incorporating ancient literary devices such as kennings and skaldic metres. Now based in North-East England, she is still planning her way back to Norway someday.
She has been writing since the moment she could hold a pen and has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. Get in touch if you’ve got any comments, questions, suggestions, or just want to say hello. Sofie Draheim would be delighted to hear from you.

Draugaskáld: Volume I
June 13th, 2021
The first volume in a planned series of short story collections, inspired by the pagan beliefs, folklore and mythology of ancient Northern Europe, as well as pure fantasy to escape into.
The beautiul cover to this volume was designed by renowned artist Jakub Vaniš, otherwise known as The Raven from the North, but you can also find some illustrations of Sofie's own design inside this volume, as well as historical patterns.
“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!”
